The picture above is me with my two sons and three other guys I coached. Great memories, regardless of a win or loss.
My success journey is more of a rock-filled, back-woods wheeler trail than it is a paved highway.
When I am in a mess, I do not see the significance of it in my life.
Being fired from my job.
Failing out of university.
Almost losing my marriage.
Losing as a hockey coach.
Failing as a father.
Failing as a Christian…over and over and over…
These things make me question my worth, even my sanity.
What am I doing wrong? Why are so many others successful and I can’t even be average?
It isn’t until I take time to review my past failures in context of ALL of my choices, do I see the benefits.
Landing another job.
Earning my degree in another discipline.
Learning to love again.
Winning the gold medal in hockey.
Coaching my sons to success.
Understanding my role as a Christian.
Obviously, you are not getting the full story – it would take volumes of books to share my story – just like it would yours.
The purpose of this article is to share with you that you can come back from anything with two powerful tools: perseverance and choice. If you want to learn more about making better choices and perfecting perseverance, join me and other parents here: https://www.facebook.com/perfectmanblogger
