CISPA moves forward. Our Freedom doesn’t.

The U.S House passed the bill CISPA today with an overwhelming 248 members of Congress voting in favor of the bill while only 168 voted against it. If you are not aware of what CISPA is or what effect it will have on you, please stop reading this blog and do your research. But for those of you who don’t care enough to do a quick Google search, CISPA will basically allow/require the Govt. and companies from the private sector to share information to help stop hacking and cyber threats. What information is considered a cyber threat you ask? Well how about your new Facebook status that tells the FB community of your hate for the Govt. and how you wish something would be done about it’s shortcomings? Yes that is correct, this bill will allow Uncle Sam to monitor any and all information it thinks could be a threat. See the breach on privacy and how it can and will get out of hand?

But not to worry because there is some good news. President Obama already said he plans to veto it if it reaches his desk and thousands of people are rallying against the bill being passed. Unfortunately the bad news is, because of the multiple amendments that are being made to CISPA to try and measure the amount of access the Govt. will ‘actually’ have to everyone’s private info, this thing may ‘actually’ reach the President’s desk, be vetoed, then sent back to Congress where, because of its popularity, it may ‘actually’ make it through another vote and then reach the law books. If everyone was able to follow all of that and that happens, shit will have actually hit the fan. Seriously.
